I ended up installing the debug verdien of the driver and running a debug tool during flashing. But the flashing would always stop at 2% and the USB would disconnect and then reconnect. I tried multiple versions of USB Burning Tool and the WorldCup driver. I tried multiple sizes and sorts of USB cables, different USB ports including USB2 and USB3 ones. Unfortunatly I kept on getting errors and the tool would always stop at 2%. After opening the tool my box would be recognized and shown as connected.Īfter downloading about every firmware I could find on the Internet that would be anywhere near suitable for my box, I just started to try and flash it. This meant that I could try and flash the device using USB Burning Tool. Using the toothpick mode wouldn't change anything. I figured out that my box would always start straight into recovery mode because my PC would always detect it as WorldCup Device. The box led would stay red but my PC would immediatly identify the device as "WorldCup Device". What have I tried so far to ubrick my device?Īt first I tried connecting the box to my PC through USB and no power cord. Just a red light on the box which would turn blue after pressing the power button, but then still nothing.

When the update was done I rebooted the box and then, nothing. I got into recovery mode and selected "apply update from EXT" and the box started updating. I created a bootable USB stick with "RemiX_115k4" on it thinking it was the correct firmware and booted into recovery method using the toothpick method. USB Burning tool always stopped at 2% so I gave up.īefore the brick it had Android kitkat 4.4.2 on it and runs on an Amlogic s802-b.

I have a 2,5 year old Android tv box named "MXIII 4K" which I didn't use that much and a couple of months ago I wanted to install Linux on it.īefore that I had tried to upgrade the firmware with USB Burning Tool but could never find the right firmware for it. Does anyone know how to unroot a box that says it's not rooted but clearly there is some kind of root structure in place? I tried using superuser on another box like this and it crashed the box so I don't want to go that route. I have read others saying they have this issue as well and I did see somewhere that if I can get in the app and use most of it's functions then the root access isnt the issue but rather an issue with vudu itself.

When I click on play it gives me the 4 little blue spinning icons for a few seconds then boots me back to the movie page with a message that says "Encountered a problem, please try again"(or something to that affect). I can do EVERYTHING in vudu EXCEPT actual play a movie. I can login to vudu, get access to the movie categories, my movies, I can click on my movies and it shows the play function. I'm trying to use Vudu on this box and Vudu has a root check system in place that won't allow the app to run properly on rooted devices. Rootchecker says the box isn't properly rooted. Well, I turned root of and verified this with rootchecker. This box "claims" to be unrooted, it has a root switch where you can turn root on and off. I have a Abox A4 running Android tv os 7.1.2(the bastardized version of real Android tv os). Although I could be totally wrong, I think this is the reason it freezes all the time. I can't sign into Google or do anything else with it. I deleted the cache and data hoping that it would help, but it didn't. I get messages popping up every minute or so that say "Google Play Store keeps stopping" or the same message with Google services. I think that the main reason for this is Google Play Store and Services. I even installed a bigger heat-sink, but no difference. The problem is that it's still a bit buggy and it freezes here and there. I can boot the box now, and its working somewhat. So after some advice in these forums, I installed the Superceleron Rom with the update. After a while it refused to boot altogether. On occasion it would suddenly go back to the main menu in the middle of a movie, or get all jammed up (frozen). After setting it up, it worked somewhat OK but was a bit buggy. I bought an Alfawise H96 PRO PLUS TV box a few months ago. I’m a bit of a newbie with these TV boxes, so there may be something obvious here that I’m missing.
